A Scaling Analysis of a Star Network with Logarithmic Weights

چکیده
The paper investigates the properties of a class of resource allocation algorithms for communication networks: if a node of this network has x requests to transmit, then it receives a fraction of the capacity proportional to log(1+L), the logarithm of its current load L. A stochastic model of such an algorithm is investigated in the case of the star network, in which J nodes can transmit simultaneously, but interfere with a central node 0 in such a way that node 0 cannot transmit while one of the other nodes does. One studies the impact of the log policy on these J + 1 interacting communication nodes. A fluid scaling analysis of the network is derived with the scaling parameter N being the norm of the initial state. It is shown that the asymptotic fluid behaviour of the system is a consequence of the evolution of the state of the network on a specific time scale (Nt, t∈(0, 1)). The main result is that, on this time scale and under appropriate conditions, the state of a node with index j ≥ 1 is of the order of Nj, with 0≤aj(t)<1, where t 7→ aj(t) is a piecewise linear function. Convergence results on the fluid time scale and a stability property are derived as a consequence of this study.

Scaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters
We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...
متن کاملA nonlinear model for common weights set identification in network Data Envelopment Analysis
In the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) the efficiency of the units can be obtained by identifying the degree of the importance of the criteria (inputs-outputs).In DEA basic models, challenges are zero and unequal weights of the criteria when decision- making units are evaluated. One of the strategies applied to deal with these problems is using common weights of the each input...
متن کاملFinding Common Weights in Two-Stage Network DEA
In data envelopment analysis (DEA), mul-tiplier and envelopment CCR models eval-uate the decision-making units (DMUs) under optimal conditions. Therefore, the best prices are allocated to the inputs and outputs. Thus, if a given DMU was not efficient under optimal conditions, it would not be considered efficient by any other models. In the current study, using common weights in DEA, a number of...
متن کاملDouble-Star Detection Using Convolutional Neural Network in Atmospheric Turbulence
In this paper, we investigate the usage of machine learning in the detection and recognition of double stars. To do this, numerous images including one star and double stars are simulated. Then, 100 terms of Zernike expansion with random coefficients are considered as aberrations to impose on the aforementioned images. Also, a telescope with a specific aperture is simulated. In this work, two k...
متن کاملBirman-Wenzl-Murakami Algebra and Logarithmic Superconformal Minimal Models
Two-dimensional exactly solvable loop models, built on the Temperley-Lieb algebra, have previously been introduced to study statistical systems with non-local degrees of freedom such as polymers and percolation. In the continuum scaling limit, these models describe logarithmic minimal Conformal Field Theories (CFTs). In this thesis, we introduce and study new two-dimensional exactly solvable su...
